2016
For my BA final collection, I am creating a fictive brand with all the concepts around it, the collection, as well as all economic and managerial aspects. Since I have a strong connection with the material, I wanted to work around the touch. Indeed, touch is one of the first senses we develop at birth. It is the most natural with which we are able to discover our world. Society's conventions push us to substitute it by the view, it is forbidden, we are afraid to break, make it dirty, be uncomfortable (...). Yet, this sense is essential for our development, to learn how to walk, to communicate, to react in society, to understand sexuality. This is why I am asking myself how to reconnect with the sens of touch, and our environment, through the clothing. To do this, I am creating unexpected textures, that will interact with others in contrast, to amplify the feeling on the skin.
I am using embroidery, weaving, felting, pleating, pearls, and crystal paint for exemple.
For the garment's form, I am working on mixing fabrics and controlling the movement and touch, to exaggerate even more de sensation on the skin.
